Postnatal Massage and Reiki
Postnatal Massage
-
A postnatal massage is a type of therapeutic massage specifically designed to support new mothers during the postpartum period. It focuses on addressing the physical and emotional changes that occur after childbirth.
-
Benefits of Postnatal Massage:
Physical Recovery
Improved Circulation
Relaxation and Stress Relief
Emotional Support
Muscle and Joint Alignment
Enhanced Sleep
-
What to Expect:
Timing
It's generally recommended to wait until you have been cleared by your healthcare provider before getting a postnatal massage. Many therapists suggest waiting until at least six weeks postpartum, but this can vary depending on individual recovery.Techniques Used
The massage techniques may vary based on individual needs but often include gentle strokes, kneading, and stretching to address muscle tension and promote relaxation.Focus Areas
Common focus areas include the back, shoulders, neck, and hips, as these are areas that may experience significant strain during and after pregnancy.Positioning
Special accommodations may be made for comfort, such as using pillows or bolsters to support the body, especially if the new mother is recovering from a C-section or other birth complications.Consultation
We will typically have a consultation before the session to discuss any specific concerns, medical history, and preferences to ensure the massage is safe and effective.
Investment (in-person only)

Reiki
-
Reiki is a form of alternative therapy that originated in Japan. It involves the practitioner using their hands to channel what is believed to be universal life energy, or "ki," to promote healing and balance in the recipient. The practice is based on the idea that this energy can be harnessed to support physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being.
-
Reiki is a tool that can be used for birth.
Reiki is a great foundation for a positive pregnancy and birth as it helps promote relaxation and peace by releasing tension, removing negative energy, and clearing out energy blockages
Reiki can be used to try to change a situation or find peace if things don’t go as planned
Results from a clinical trial:
78% improvement in pain
80% improvement in nausea
86% improvement in sleep
94% improvement in anxiety
reduction of C-section rate from 20% to 5%
Results from a clinical trial at Hartford Hospital, CT and from Dr Jeri Mills, OBGYN practice
And these are just the results of using standard Reiki

Self-Care

During a Reiki session, the recipient usually lies down fully clothed while the practitioner lightly places their hands on or near the recipient's body. The goal is to facilitate the flow of energy and help the body relax, which is thought to support natural healing processes. People often describe feeling deeply relaxed or experiencing a sense of warmth or tingling during the session.
